26 Οκτ 2018 · I would be confused if I saw “sp” in a score, and I would not interpret that marking as “subito piano.” So be careful! Absolutely. I have probably read 100,000 pieces of music in my life and I have never, ever seen a dynamic marking “sp”. The universal markings for an immediate change in dynamic are. subito p sub p (sub) p

In a Finale default document, the Dynamics category comes with pre-made subito p and sub. p expressions! How helpful!
Select the dynamics whose subito modifier appearance and/or position you want to change. You can do this in Write mode and Engrave mode. In the Properties panel, activate Subito style in the Dynamics group and choose one of the following options:
27 Νοε 2021 · Is there a Subito piano sign in MuseScore? I'm thinking 'sp'.. that actually works rather than me using text to add to the 'p'? I can see sfp but not sp without the forte.
The difference in practice between fp and sfzp is how fast you get to piano (besides the articulation, which you got right) - a fp gets to piano slightly slower than sfzp (in my experience). Also, the subito piano isn’t a decay - it’s not a decrescendo - it’s subito (suddenly) soft (piano).

2 Μαρ 2022 · But marking a dynamic as "subito" just indicates to the player that a sudden change is needed - i.e. "don't diminuendo or crescendo into the new dynamic." That is how Musescore behaves anyway.
