29 Αυγ 2023 · Most sulfates, including those of \(\ce{Na^{+}}\), \(\ce{K^{+}}\), and \(\ce{NH4^{+}}\), are soluble in water. Exceptions that are insoluble are white lead(II) sulfate and white barium sulfate: \[\ce{BaSO4(s) <=> Ba2+(aq) + SO42-(aq)} \nonumber \] with \(K_{sp} = 1.4 \times 10^{-8}\) \[\ce{PbSO4(s) <=> Pb2+(aq) + SO42-(aq)} \nonumber \]

Ionic hydration structure, dynamics and adsorption mechanism of sulfate and sodium ions in the surface of calcium silicate hydrate gel: A molecular dynamics study. Applied Surface Science 2018, 448 , 559-570. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsusc.2018.04.071
Salts are ionic compounds composed of cations and anions, either of which may be capable of undergoing an acid or base ionization reaction with water. Aqueous salt solutions, therefore, may be acidic, basic, or neutral, depending on the relative acid-base strengths of the salt's constituent ions.
Schematic of the sulfate formation mechanisms. Variations in temperature , RH, and particle size and acidity for the aqueous reactions between SO 2 and NO 2 leading to SO 4 2? formation...
30 Νοε 2021 · Speciation diagrams are useful in determining the effects of conditions on the distribution of species. For example in the sulfate/water system it is useful to know the available sulfate ion concentration as a function of pH.
Molecular dynamics simulations of ions in water are reported for solutions of varying solute concentration at ambient conditions for six cations and four anions in 10 solutes. The solutes were selected to show trends in properties as the size and charge density of the ions change.
