According to Malaysia’s national news agency Bernama, 317 boat people left the Sungai Besi camp earlier today in 11 buses for Tanjung Gelang near Kuantan where they will board a navy vessel for their journey home.

16 Ιουν 2017 · As you also know, in the Sungibesi camp, a non-violent demonstration to demand political asylum broke out on the 23rd of January, 1995, due to the aspirations of all the refugee compatriots in Sungibesi, under the name of “the Unified Council of Asylum-seeking Refugees.”
Does the refugee camp area from the early-80s still exist and is it easily accessible from the centre of Kuala Lumpur? If not, is there anything worth seeing/doing in this part of the city? Thanks!
28 Αυγ 2005 · Over 250,000 Vietnamese refugees landed on Malaysia. Over 240,000 Vietnamese refugees resettled in third countries. Pulau Bidong was officially open on August 8th, 1978. On October 30th, 1991, Pulau Bidong camp was closed (Mohamad) 1996: Sungei Besi camp was closed.
Our family stayed on the island for 3 months, three and three months in Sungai Besi camp near Kuala Lumpur and six months in Philippines. Our refugees application were granted and we destined for USA.
