The Beatitudes (Luke 6:20-22) pronounce blessings on the poor, hungry, weeping, and persecuted, offering a vision of God's kingdom where the last shall be first. The woes (Luke 6:24-26), conversely, caution against finding ultimate security in earthly riches and pleasures.
