The technology of superconductivity includes the basic application of superconductive materials to conductor configurations which can meet the system and operational requirements of electric propulsion machinery.
4 Ιουλ 2005 · This article discusses ship electric propulsion from the point of view of the motor and power electronic configurations that can be deployed.
We propose a notional design for a high-torque-density (66 Nm/kg), high efficiency (99%) 36 MW, 120 rpm motor for ship propulsion. The synchronous motor uses LTS field coils to create a minimum of 2 T magnetic field in the air gap of the motor.
Superconductivity. Two basic properties of superconductivity. Zero resistivity Below a certain temperature, the critical temperature Tc (property of the superconductor), resistivity of a superconductor will become exactly zero. The first superconductor was mercury, discovered by Onnes in 1911.
1.1.What is superconductor? Superconductor is a material with outstanding conducting properties. Truly outstanding, as its resistivity drops to zero below a certain critical temperature T c. The microscopic physics of this effect is highly nontrivial, as conduction electrons, the common charge carriers in metals, enter
