The superficial cervical fascia is a thin layer of subcutaneous connective tissue that lies between the dermis of the skin and the deep cervical fascia. [1] It contains the platysma, cutaneous nerves [1] [2] from the cervical plexus, [2] blood vessels, and lymphatic vessels.
The neck has superficial fascia which is just beneath the skin, and deep fascia which is deeper, and surrounds muscles and neck structures, organizing them into compartments. The spaces of the neck are the areas where the fascia is thin and flexible.

The cervical fascia is the investing fascia of the neck. It can be divided into superficial and deep investing layers, visceral cervical fascia, fascia that surrounds the infrahyoid muscle, and the carotid sheath.
