30 Οκτ 2023 · The suprascapular nerve is the lateral branch of the superior trunk of the brachial plexus. It receives nerve fibers that originate in the nerve roots C5 and C6 (and sometimes C4). The suprascapular nerve is a mixed nerve, meaning that it provides both sensory and motor supply for the suprascapular region.
19 Σεπ 2023 · The suprascapular nerve is a mixed motor and sensory nerve arising from the superior trunk of the brachial plexus. It supplies sensory innervation to the glenohumeral and acromioclavicular joints and motor innervation to the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles.
23 Σεπ 2023 · Location. Origin: The nerve originates from the brachial plexus in the lower part of the neck. Course: After originating, the suprascapular nerve runs laterally, crossing over the posterior triangle of the neck toward the superior aspect of the scapula.
22 Ιουν 2023 · Structure and Location . After branching from the upper portion of the brachial plexus, the suprascapular nerve travels down and at an outward angle toward the shoulder, passing behind the clavicle (collarbone).
Suprascapular notch. notch that is a passageway for the suprascapular nerve. Coracoid process. flat, long protrusion of bone behind the scapular notch, serves to stabilize the shoulder joint. Glenoid cavity. The glenoid cavity or glenoid fossa of scapula is a part of the shoulder.
18 Οκτ 2016 · The suprascapular nerve travels laterally around the scapular spine to descend into the infraspinatus fossa only to pass under the spinoglenoid ligament (SGL), also known as the inferior transverse scapular ligament (Fig. 33.4a–c). The suprascapular nerve gives off 2–4 branches to the infraspinatus muscle belly.
The suprascapular nerve emerges from the superior trunk of the brachial plexus in the neck. It runs laterally through the posterior triangle and then through the scapular notch to the posterior scapular region. Here it runs with the suprascapular artery and innervates the supraspinatus muscle.
