30 Οκτ 2023 · The suprascapular nerve is the lateral branch of the superior trunk of the brachial plexus. It receives nerve fibers that originate in the nerve roots C5 and C6 (and sometimes C4). The suprascapular nerve is a mixed nerve, meaning that it provides both sensory and motor supply for the suprascapular region.
19 Σεπ 2023 · The suprascapular nerve is a mixed motor and sensory nerve arising from the superior trunk of the brachial plexus. It supplies sensory innervation to the glenohumeral and acromioclavicular joints and motor innervation to the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles.
23 Σεπ 2023 · Location. Origin: The nerve originates from the brachial plexus in the lower part of the neck. Course: After originating, the suprascapular nerve runs laterally, crossing over the posterior triangle of the neck toward the superior aspect of the scapula.
Once the suprascapular nerve’s roots leave the neck, they come together to form the nerve inside the brachial plexus, then move on to the shoulder. The suprascapular nerve has four main branches, two motor and two sensory. The motor branches innervate the: Supraspinatus muscle. Infraspinatus muscle.
3 Οκτ 2022 · The suprascapular nerve is a branch from the upper trunk of the brachial plexus; it innervates the infraspinatus and the supraspinatus muscles. It originates in the posterior triangle of the neck, where it runs to the upper part of the scapula downward and laterally parallel to the belly of the omohyoid muscle.
18 Οκτ 2016 · The suprascapular nerve travels laterally around the scapular spine to descend into the infraspinatus fossa only to pass under the spinoglenoid ligament (SGL), also known as the inferior transverse scapular ligament (Fig. 33.4a–c). The suprascapular nerve gives off 2–4 branches to the infraspinatus muscle belly.
Suprascapular nerve. Origin: upper trunk of brachial plexus ( C5, C6) Course: The Nerve passes under the transverse scapular ligament at suprascapular notch. The transverse scapular artery runs above the ligament. Artery and nerve join and passes through spinoglenoid notch under inferior.
