30 Οκτ 2023 · From its origin, the suprascapular nerve courses laterally, passing superior to the brachial plexus and through the posterior triangle of neck. It then traverses the scapular notch (inferior to the superior transverse scapular ligament) into the supraspinous region of the scapula.
19 Σεπ 2023 · The suprascapular nerve is a mixed motor and sensory nerve arising from the superior trunk of the brachial plexus. It supplies sensory innervation to the glenohumeral and acromioclavicular joints and motor innervation to the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles.
23 Σεπ 2023 · Location. Origin: The nerve originates from the brachial plexus in the lower part of the neck. Course: After originating, the suprascapular nerve runs laterally, crossing over the posterior triangle of the neck toward the superior aspect of the scapula.
3 Οκτ 2022 · The suprascapular nerve branches from the upper trunk and runs along the posterior triangle of the neck. During its course, it runs to the upper part of the scapula downward and laterally parallel to the belly of the omohyoid muscle; then, it runs under the suprascapular ligament to the supraspinatus fossa.
Once the suprascapular nerve’s roots leave the neck, they come together to form the nerve inside the brachial plexus, then move on to the shoulder. The suprascapular nerve has four main branches, two motor and two sensory. The motor branches innervate the: Supraspinatus muscle. Infraspinatus muscle.
6 Σεπ 2019 · The suprascapular nerve (SN) is a mixed sensory and motor nerve that originates from the upper (superior) trunk of the brachial plexus (C5) and innervates the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles, as well as the acromioclavicular and glenohumeral joints (Table 4.1 and Fig. 4.1).
The suprascapular nerve emerges from the superior trunk of the brachial plexus in the neck. It runs laterally through the posterior triangle and then through the scapular notch to the posterior scapular region. Here it runs with the suprascapular artery and innervates the supraspinatus muscle.
