You can get married in Sweden or abroad. Depending on where you choose to get married, you need to submit different types of information to the Swedish Tax Agency so we can determine whether your marriage can be authorised and registered in Sweden.
The Marriage Register contains information from 1921 onwards about the legal relationship between spouses and between registered partners. This can include dates and other information concerning divorces and divisions of joint property.
You can be granted a residence permit if you are planning to marry or become the cohabiting partner of someone in Sweden.
I äktenskapsregistret finns information från 1921 och framåt om rättsförhållandet mellan äkta makar och mellan registrerade partner. Det kan till exempel handla om datum och andra uppgifter om skilsmässor och bodelningar.
You can do so in the following ways: You can prove that you are over 18 years old by showing a passport or an equivalent identity document that states your date of birth. You can post this document to the Swedish Tax Agency or hand it in at a state service centre.
26 Μαρ 2015 · If the marriage took place in Sweden: A Swedish marriage certificate is a “Personbevis” issued in the name of one of the parents, stating the name of the spouse and is issued by the Swedish tax authorities (Skatteverket). It must state both spouses’ names, dates and places of birth, and date of marriage.
4 Αυγ 2024 · There are several ways to find out the date someone got married. Search online to see if your state and county has online marriage indexes where you can find out the date of a marriage. If you can’t find the information that way, ask at the local county records office where the couple got married.
