Every April for the last seven years, during National Poetry Month in the United States, they have offered thirty poems for interfaith readers. I have compiled the poems into one list of 210 poems, with links to their site for each poem.

Obviously religious faith – and, indeed, religious doubt – has loomed large in English poetry, whether it’s in the devotional lyrics of John Donne and George Herbert or the modern, secular musings of Philip Larkin in ‘Church Going’.
This chapter traces ways that the special affinity between religion and poetry has been expressed through the ages and across cultures. The ancient scriptural texts of all major religions are in poetic form. Poetry in the West became religious in the Middle Ages with Dante, then internalized religion during the Reformation.

Religious symbolism is using symbols, including archetypes, acts, artwork, events, or natural phenomena, by a religion. Religions view religious texts, rituals, and works of art as symbols of compelling ideas or ideals.
Christian poetry is almost as old as Christianity itself. Early Christian hymns even helped to establish rhyme as a common feature of poetry (much earlier, pre-Christian poetry was unrhymed), and the impact of Christianity on the world of verse has been considerable.
