28 Νοε 2017 · By including capability-creating processes in the Uppsala model, we can explain what makes internationalization possible – ownership, control, or other forms of privileged access to firm-specific advantages 1 (FSAs), and the reasons for internationalization – efficient governance and economies of scale.
Our work examines what has now become the time-tested and Decade Award–winning 2009 version of the Uppsala Model relative to the original model in 1977. We also provide an outlook for international business research within the scope of the 2017 version of the model.

The Uppsala internationalization process model is revisited in the light of changes in business practices and theoretical advances that have been made since 1977.
Partly building on the Uppsala model, innovation-related internationalisation models have similarly viewed the firm as passing through stages which represent a learning sequence (Andersen, 1993).
