Offering guidance on how to use code-based procedures while at the same time providing an understanding of why provisions are necessary, Tall Building Design: Steel, Concrete, and Composite Systems methodically explores the structural behavior of steel, concrete, and composite members and systems.
In this chapter, the fundamental of tall building design is explained. It starts with the introduction of the history of the tall buildings. Then it explains different loadings, floor...
5 Ιουλ 2022 · This study presents a detailed narrative of different structural systems for tall buildings that is expected to assist structural engineers and architects to collaboratively select appropriate...
This book begins with a clear and rigorous exposition of theories behind designing tall buildings. After this is an explanation of basic issues encountered in the design process.
Tall buildings affect a wide area and need to be carefully located and integrated, allowing their scale, form and silhouette to have a positive relationship with the buildings nearby. When designing tall buildings, it is crucial to consider the height of the building in relation to nearby buildings – a
9 Ιουλ 2024 · This chapter introduces the key design issues of tall buildings: different lateral resistance systems, loads, floor system. It also has introduced earthquake design, progressive collapse design, fire safety design, blast resistance design and foundation design, shortening analysis.
This paper will review some of the challenges faced by designers of foundations for very tall buildings, primarily from a geotechnical viewpoint. Some character-istic features of such buildings will be reviewed and then the options for foundation systems will be discussed.
