In the first selection, we see how creating a new local history journal in Tampa helped both the community and the history de-partment move toward public history, and in the second essay, how a smaller community in West Virginia was able to keep its historical journal viable thanks to the efforts of a dedicated teacher. The History Center is known for its influence on the community, using programs and events to generate interest in Tampa’s public history. Whether its Sangria and Stories or Florida Conversations, there is also an event coming up where TBHC will host a talk about Tampa’s cultural history.
