I just caught wind of this the other day as well.
They are not on par with older 'traditional' Technics models. Lack of decent body isolation and the feet are a step back (pun intended). They are very overpriced and just a cynical way to capture the DJ market.
21 Μαρ 2021 · The MK7 has a really fine tonearm for a sub-$1000 turntable, free of any obvious friction, with perfectly adjusted bearings, and the aura of a genuine instrument. I should also mention that other critical component, the drive system, performed flawlessly and spun at exactly the right speeds.
13 Αυγ 2021 · The MK7 was pretty much spot on, all the low frequencies coming over tight and unexaggerated, with crisp high frequencies and no obvious distortions. For stereo imaging and overall frequency placement, the Harold Land Quintet on Chess Cadet records was my choice for reference.
1 Σεπ 2019 · Very contrary to the dire warnings we hear on AK that all SL-1200s have been trashed by DJs and need extensive work to get them serviceable. I'd do an AK Google search and you should come up with a number of excellent cartridge recommendations that have stood the test of time being used on the SL-1200.
