Temperate coniferous forests are common in the coastal areas of regions that have mild winters and heavy rainfall, or inland in drier climates or montane areas. Many species of trees inhabit these forests including pine, cedar, fir, and redwood.
One type of coniferous forest, the northern boreal forest, is found in 50° to 60°N latitudes. Another type, temperate coniferous forests, grows in lower latitudes of North America, Europe, and Asia, in the high elevations of mountains.
23 Μαΐ 2019 · Temperate Coniferous Forests. This type of forest grows in areas where the winters are cool, the summers are warm, and there is enough rainfall for tree survival. Evergreen conifers dominate most of these forests although some of them have a mixture of other kinds of trees.
This change of climate in the temperate zone of Asia is associated with corresponding changes in the vegetation, which varies from mesic broadleaved– coniferous forests on the Pacific islands to excessively dry steppe and deserts in the interior areas on the eastern edge of the continent.
