I installed a tv over a gas log fireplace which has a 14” solid pine mantle that is 6” thick (I made it out of a pine slab). I was worried about the temp so I (temporarily) mounted four temperature sensors from screen bottom to top.
I'm using a MantelMount to be able to lower the TV when using it, of course keeping the fireplace off if the TV is down. The issue I'm having is that the TV and the general area above the fireplace seem to be getting very hot fairly quickly (from 70F to around 100F after 15 minutes).
