Files in a temp account are automatically deleted at logoff time. You will need to restore your files from your external backup medium. There is an underlying principle you need to keep in mind. Important files must at all times be stored on two independent media.
3 Αυγ 2018 · In the process of changing my username on my Windows 10 computer, I logged on as a temporary user. Out of ignorance, I moved all my important files to the default profile folder (which of course was temporary), thinking that it would be my new profile folder.

Sounds like you have logged into a temporary profile. Try restarting your computer a few times. Press Control + Alt + Delete. Click Sign out.
