Tempus Fugit is a Latin phrase, usually translated into English as “Time Flies”. The expression comes from line 284 of book 3 of Virgil's Georgics, where it appears asfugit inreparabile tempus: “it escapes, irretrievable time”. The phrase is used in both its Latin and English forms as a proverb.
The three weights provide power to the hour strike (left weight), time (center weight), and chime melody (right weight). Without these weights, the clock would not operate. Each weight is different and must be properly hung from the movement (left, center, right) to ensure proper operation.
