Consider oral magnesium replacement in asymptomatic children with mild hypomagnesaemia and no gastrointestinal intolerance present eg diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting. Intravenous magnesium replacement is the preferred route in the setting of symptomatic hypomagnesaemia, significant gastrointestinal intolerance.
