Finding a Course. You can search the internet, get recommendations from friends, or find a provider near your home. TDLR cannot recommend a specific provider. Any licensed driving safety provider may offer a 6-hour course that can be used for ticket dismissal or insurance discounts.
Search for a Driver License Office. The Department has many driver license office locations statewide that can serve your needs. However, our Mega Centers are our premier locations. If a Mega Center location appears in your search, we encourage you to visit this location for all of your driver license and identification card needs.
Texas residents obtain driver's licenses, commercial licenses, driver's permits and ID cards through the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). To find a DPS office location near you, find your county in the alphabetical list below.
Driver Education Options (Starting at age 14): Traditional Course: Offered by certified driving schools with classroom instruction. Online Courses: Offered by certified driving schools for a flexible learning experience. Parent-Taught: Learn for a parent or guardian with a valid unexpired Texas drivers license.
