The Texas Longhorn is a breed of cattle known for its characteristic horns, which can extend to over 1.8 m (5.9 feet) tip to tip for bulls, and 2.1 m (6.9 feet) tip to tip for steers and exceptional cows. They are known for their diverse coloring, and can be any color or mix of colors, but dark red and white color mixes are the most dominant.
The Texas Longhorn is well known for the hardy, disease resistant characteristics and the ability to withstand high drought-stress situations. Genetic testing of the Texas Longhorn cattle breed has shown them to be descendant from ancient breeds of cattle.

Characteristics: Longhorns are very resilient cattle that could travel incredible distances without water, rustle their own food, fend for themselves, swim rivers, survive the desert sun and winter snow. They have an elliptical shaped body for heat adaptation and are eficient browsers of scrub and forage.
