After Mexico declared its independence from Spain in 1821, Texas became a part of Mexico. However, Texans soon became unhappy with the Mexican government. They started a rebellion against the Mexican government. Settlers in Texas fought against Mexican forces led by Antonio López de Santa Anna.
The battle ended in a tie, with both sides agreeing to ceasefire. The Texian army was defeated, and Santa Anna was captured.
