This page provides testing information related to obtaining a Texas educator certificate. Texas law requires that educators pass appropriate tests to become certified. The appropriate examination (s) required for certification are specified in the Texas Administrative Code, §230.21 (e).
This is where you will register to test and schedule your exam appointment. You cannot register to test through your account on the TEA site. You must provide your TEA ID number, your first and last name, and your date of birth. After you create your testing account. You will be able to: register for any exam you are approved to take

To take an exam, you must first create an account and then complete the registration and payment process at the Texas Educator Certification Examination Program website. Step 2: Scheduling. Once you have registered to take an exam, you may schedule your test appointment online 7 days per week, 24 hours per day.
Under the STR Requirements House Bill 3, passed during the 86th Texas Legislature, established the requirement that all teacher candidates who teach students in grades Pre-K-6 demonstrate proficiency in the science of teaching reading on a new, standalone certification exam.
