Even if your vehicle has an inspection sticker from your previous state, it must pass a Texas vehicle inspection as per Texas vehicle inspection law. You can have this done at any Texas Department of Public Safety-approved inspection station.
Vehicles are no longer required to have an inspection sticker on the vehicle’s windshield. The inspection sticker has been replaced by the Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR). Keep the VIR handy as it may need to be shown at the time of registration.
NOTE: You must get your vehicle inspected AND have it pass a state inspection before you can renew your vehicle registration. Your vehicle registration sticker displays your license plate number, county of registration and partial vehicle identification number.
