The Gene Siskel Film Center opened at its current location in the renovated Butler Building (1924) in June of 2001 on N. State Street near the corner of W. Randolph Street.
The Gene Siskel Film Center hosts more than 1,500 screenings and 200 filmmaker appearances every year. Since 1972, the Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago has presented cutting edge cinema to an annual audience of 85,000.
Gene Siskel is our go-to movie theater in Chicago. They show a great variety of new indie films that have made their way along the film festival circuit and also playing retrospectives. Thematically, they do a great job grouping their film series.
