There are so many better things to read. The "adult" version of get-into-fantasy that I'd recommend instead of Eragon is Riyria Revelations by Michael Sullivan. It's very swords-and-sorcery and it's very easy to get lost in the story and realize you accidentally just spent 4 hours reading when you meant to spend 20 minutes.
I'm 25 and currently reading Inheritance again. Never to old to read a good book. If you’re into fantasy books then I would definitely recommend. It’s very well thought out and a full universe. 23 and my wife and I just finished the full cycle, and started The Fork, The Witch, and the Wyrm.

i just finished reading the cycle today for the first time. i only started because my teenager loves it and wanted to be able to talk to me about it. it’s a great series and i’m surprised many people seem to hate it, especially the ending.
