Amen. ACT OF FAITH. O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe that your divine Son became flesh, died for our sins, and that he will come to judge the living and the dead.
When one says “amen” in response to a prayer, it serves as an affirmation of agreement with the content of the prayer (cf. 1 Cor 14:16)—in which case it is sometimes translated “So be it” (cf. CCC 2856)—or as an expression of faith that God will hear and act on the prayer.
To this doxology—to the entire Eucharistic Prayer — the people sing (or say) “Amen!” It is an assent to the Eucharistic Prayer and all of its particular elements of the consecration, praise, thanksgiving, and petition that the priest has just concluded on their behalf.

In order to solemnize His claims, Jesus would often preface His statements by saying, “Amen, amen, I say to you.”

In other parts of the New Testament, especially in the Epistles of St. Paul, Amen usually concludes a prayer or a doxology, e.g. Rom., xi, 36, “To Him be glory for ever. Amen.” We also find it sometimes attached to blessings, e.g. Rom., xv, 33, “Now the God of peace be with you all.
