The Modern showcases Chef Thomas Allan’s contemporary cooking in a modern setting overlooking MoMA’s Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden. At dinner, we offer a guest-choice of two innovative tasting menus. At lunch, we offer a tasting menu and a three course prix fixe.
Whether you’re savoring a light bite or a heartier meal, the menu includes something for everyone, complemented by a thoughtful selection of wine, beer, espresso, and coffee. Walk-ins are welcome—no reservations are needed. Download the Café 2 menu.

The Modern is a 2 Michelin-starred contemporary American restaurant at the Museum of Modern Art and part of Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group. Helmed by Executive Chef Thomas Allan, the restaurant features refined, playful dishes that highlight exceptional ingredients and seasonality.
The restaurant is adjacent to The Modern which features four and eight course menu options overlooking MoMA's Sculpture Garden, as well as the exclusive Kitchen Table, which offers a custom tasting menu for up to four guests in the heart of the restaurant's world-class kitchen.
Always enjoy the excellent cuisine at the Bar Room at the Modern, but this time the new menu items were outstanding. I had the pea soup which was amazingly delicious (not like mom's). I then had the a roast chicken which was truly the best I have ever had!
