One of the rarest wild canid species in the world, Singers hail from the tropical island of Papua New Guinea where they were first discovered by western civilization in the 1950s.
The thylacine (/ ˈ θ aɪ l ə s iː n /; binomial name Thylacinus cynocephalus), also commonly known as the Tasmanian tiger or Tasmanian wolf, is an extinct carnivorous marsupial that was native to the Australian mainland and the islands of Tasmania and New Guinea.
Professor Archer, the current Dean of Science at the University of New South Wales and professor of paleontology, hypothesizes that it may be possible for a living Tasmanian wolf to be cloned using the DNA from an infant female specimen preserved in alcohol since 1866 at the Australian Museum.
