My three years as President of HKU have been spent bringing the University to the point of lifting its sails ever higher and setting off to new destinations. I am extremely fortunate to be ably supported by my management team and all colleagues across the University.
Biography. Xiang Zhang is a physicist, optical engineer, and material scientist, who serves as President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of Hong Kong. He is the sixteenth leader appointed to this role, beginning in July 2018. Professor Zhang was born in Nanjing in Chinaʼs Jiangsu province.
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is a public research university in Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. It was founded in 1887 as the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese by the London Missionary Society and formally established as the University of Hong Kong in 1911.

Professor Nancy Y. IP, SBS, BBS, MH, JP. Professor Ip is the President of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Morningside Professor of Life Science. Taking office in October 2022, she is the first female president of a publicly funded university in Hong Kong.
