At 19,341 feet (5,895 meters) above sea level, Mount Kilimanjaro, a dormant volcano, is Africa’s highest mountain and the highest free-standing mountain in the world.
Africa is known for its diverse geography, encompassing deserts, savannas, rainforests, mountains, and coastlines. The continent is rich in biodiversity, hosting a wide variety of wildlife, including iconic species like elephants, lions, and giraffes. The 7 natural wonders of Africa reflect this diversity.
The Seven Natural Wonders of Africa were voted on by conservationist, naturalist and other experts from around the world. The winner wonders were declared on February 12, 2013 in Arusha, Tanzania. These winners represent some of the most amazing feats of nature from across the entire continent.

Okavango Delta. Botswana. The Okavango Delta is a huge, swampy inland delta in the heart of the Kalahari Desert in northern Botswana. At around 15,000 square kilometers, the delta is the largest wetland wilderness in the world and a place where African wildlife in untrammeled by human interference, and the safari experience is truly second to none.
