I downloaded Double Deluxe and then University and Open for Business, but every time I try to open anything I get an error message, 'You are running the wrong version of Sims 2, run Double Deluxe Instead.

Okay, so i know how to install mods...but that method doesn't seem to be working for this version of the sims 2. Everytime i put anything in the downloads folder that wasn't installed by the sims pack installer, the game refuses to load.
My sister recently bought Double Deluxe sims 2 pack off amazon and we had to troubleshoot a lot of things and in the end one file refused to download. After further digging we saw that it simply couldn’t be read off the disk (very minute scratches).
