General mod managers are designed to cover a large number of games and can have issues whereas specialized managers like MO for Skyrim or Witcher 3 Mod manager have better functionality, mod compatibility and integrations with mod tools for the specific game. Manually is the best method since it's very easy to do so in TW3 compared to other games.
23 Ιουλ 2015 · I have received requests, comments, etc. stating that many would be interested in a mod management system for the Witcher 3. I am working on providing such a tool to the community. I have been given a sub-forum over at the S.T.E.P. project by the amazing staff there.
I installed most things manually and used script merger as needed. A handful of things I installed with Witcher 3 Mod Manager if I wanted to easily toggle them off/on, such as lighting mods. Also used W3MM to set load priorities for some things, namely texture mods. Oh, and Mod Limit Adjuster for sure.

I would recommend installing them manually since a good chunck of the installation process is clearly explained by the creator, script merger is recommended to fix the comptability issues, concerning witcher 3 mod manager it's more used to merge mods together and so avoid some of the conflicts.
31 Ιαν 2020 · Yes, unless the mod specifically tells you to add it manually. You'll have to use the script merger either way. Don't use vortex or the outdated nexus, it's not designed for the witcher 3 while the mod manager with the built in script merger is. 16 Μαΐ 2021 · I wouldn't use MO2 with Witcher 3 right now, it has basic mod installing/uninstalling. You cannot modify the load order through MO2, you'll have to go to the file and edit it yourself. When MO2's versatility with Witcher 3 improves, my opinion may change, but as is I'd stick to Witcher 3 MM, has every I need from a mod manager.
3 Ιουν 2022 · The Witcher 3 Mod Manager. you just read the install instructions on the mod pages... You’ll have to create a new folder called mods in the folder which has the dlc bin etc folders. If you don’t already have a mods folder, make one and place the mods there. I’d recommend using the Witcher mod manager too by the way.
