Premise. In a nightmarish town somewhere in the United States that traps those who enter, unwilling residents strive to stay alive, plagued by terrifying nocturnal creatures from the surrounding forest, and search for a way out, looking for secrets hidden within the town and beyond.
Researchers at Hawkins National Laboratory open a rift to the "Upside Down," an alternate dimension that reflects the real world. A monstrous humanoid creature escapes and abducts a boy named Will Byers and a teenage girl. Will's mother, Joyce, and the town's police chief, Jim Hopper, search for Will.
