Liturgical resources for the Third Sunday after Pentecost, Year A (June 18, 2023). Part of the "Weight of the Call" worship series.
This is the third Sunday after Pentecost. It is also the Summer Solstice, or the first day of summer. And, of course, it is Father’s Day. There are probably some other things to sneak on to the calendar if we check those obscure lists. (National hop on one-foot day, or celebrate biscuits and gravy day, something like that anyway.)
This is a day for recognizing that even the everyday miracles of service and healing and transforming have been taking place among you because nothing is too wonderful for God. It is time to give God thanks and praise for all that has been and is happening and will happen among you.

Pentecost (Whit Sunday) (7 weeks after Easter Sunday) The Easter Season always has seven Sundays, plus Pentecost. When is Pentecost and how is that date determined?
The Easter season lasts until Pentecost Sunday. Ascension Day is the celebration of Jesus’s ascension after his resurrection. Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles. Trinity Sunday celebrates the doctrine of the Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
