12 Αυγ 2024 · We present a modified thoracoplasty (MTP) technique for addressing rib hump deformity in stiff thoracic scoliosis patients, emphasizing its clinical efficacy and safety. Methods. This study included 44 patients with stiff thoracic scoliosis and razorback deformity who underwent surgery between January 2010 and May 2021.
9 Σεπ 2020 · Our modified approach to thoracoplasty procedure is effective and safe in correcting a razor back deformity in patients with severe, rigid, scoliosis, and severe pulmonary dysfunction, without causing any significant change in long-term pulmonary function.
25 Ιαν 2012 · A costoplasty, also called thoracoplasty, is a separate procedure to the spinal fusion, which can reduce the appearance of the “rib hump” that is most often associated with thoracic curves. A costoplasty will usually involve the removal of sections of several ribs that protrude – in my case my surgeon removed four sections of rib – ouch!!
7 Νοε 2014 · A 16-year-old male with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and a sharp, cosmetically unacceptable, prominent rib hump (razorback deformity) underwent scoliosis correction with posterior spinal fusion and bilateral costoplasty. The convex-sided ribs were resected and used for concave-sided rib reconstruction.
In 23 patients (3 males and 20 females) convex side thoracoplasty (rib resection at the site of the hump) was done as a first stage procedure (18 patients) or a second stage procedure (5 patients).
14 Μαΐ 2014 · Untreated growing patients with congenital scoliosis and fused ribs will develop finally thoracic insufficiency syndrome. The technique of expansion thoracoplasty with implantation of a vertical expandable prosthetic titanium rib (VEPTR) was introduced initially to treat these children.
To achieve satisfactory rib hump correction and avoid impairment to pulmonary function, we design a new kind of thoracoplasty-convex short length rib resection (CSLRR). This study is to evaluate the effect and outcome of CSLRR in conjunction with pedicle screw instrumentation.
