Industrial archaeology is an interdisciplinary method of studying all the evidence, material and immaterial, of documents, artefacts, stratigraphy and structures, human settlements and natural and urban landscapes, created for or by industrial processes.
26 Οκτ 2020 · Industrial archaeology is necessarily an interdisciplinary activity, requiring familiarity with normal archaeological techniques such as landscape surveying, artifact recognition, measured survey, and excavation. However, the discipline has its own needs and skills driven by the material culture of industrialization.
The development of industrial archaeology over the last 50 years can be traced through articles published in PMA. The early stages of recording the standing remains of industrial activity were augmented by detailed studies of groups of structures which revealed the organization of the manufacturing process.

George Teague’s (1987) work with the NPS treated a number of industrial sites in the western United States and argued for an anthropological perspective on workers and the workplace.

Simply put, archaeological science is the development and application of scientific techniques to the analysis of archaeological materials. The classic example is the use of radiocarbon decay to provide a robust chronology enabling us to examine the timing of different cultures across the globe.
