29 Μαΐ 2021 · Pytheas of Massalia (350 B.C. – 285 B.C.) described his voyage to the Arctic in a work that has not survived. Can his claims be substantiated? He also reported a strange land in the North that is today referred to as Thule. Where could this mysterious land be located? Pytheas was a Greek geographer, explorer, and astronomer.
In March 2018, following a naming competition, the Kuiper belt object 486958 Arrokoth, a fly-by target of the NASA probe New Horizons, was nicknamed "Ultima Thule". The fly-by took place on 1 January 2019, and was the most distant encounter between a spacecraft and a planetary body.

Despite their location in an otherwise frigid part of the world, the Hyperboreans were believed to inhabit a sunny, temperate, and divinely-blessed land.

21 Οκτ 2016 · Thule (pronounced: thoo-lee) is the name given to a legendary island believed to be situated in the furthest north location explorers had ventured in the 4th century BC. Where is Thule? In ancient European cartography and descriptions, it is said to be in the northern regions, near Britain and Scandinavia, or to the north west, perhaps Iceland.
It takes place on a large, lush island called Thule. If you look at the map included in the book you can easily recognise it's Greenland. Highly recommended the book.
