6 Ιουλ 2024 · Studies have shown that time of day and fasting can affect your results. If you test in the early morning after overnight fasting, the results may show higher (TSH) levels. If you get your blood test in the afternoon when you have not been fasting, your TSH levels will be lower.

Which levels take that long to stabilize - TSH, FT 4 , FT3 or all three? Do they stabilize at different rates?

It hardly ever changes quickly to being overactive or underactive: it usually takes a few weeks at least, or even a few months. If you have a thyroid function test that shows something is wrong, it's usually worth repeating it in 6-8 weeks.
If you have a diagnosed thyroid disorder or have had previous treatment for an overactive thyroid, it is important to have a blood test every 12 months, or as advised by your doctor. If you have a thyroid disorder you should have a blood test in early pregnancy or if you are planning a pregnancy.
