31 Οκτ 2023 · The medial (ie, tibial) sesamoid is thought to bear greater force during the normal gait cycle and is more commonly fractured from either direct force or cumulative stress . The lateral (ie, fibular) sesamoid is injured much less often.
Treatment is generally conservative (nonsurgical). However, if conservative treatments do not relieve symptoms, your doctor may recommend surgery to remove the sesamoid bone. Nonsurgical Treatment. For sesamoiditis: Stop the activity causing the pain. Rest the foot.
