16 Ιουν 2024 · Tinea faciei was commonly detected in females (64.9%) with a history of pets (54.6%). Clinical presentations often involved plaques and scales on the cheeks. Among patients with lesions on the cheek, mycological cure was observed significantly less often compared to those without cheek lesions.
Tinea faciei resembles tinea corporis (ringworm). It may be acute (sudden onset and rapid spread) or chronic (slow extension of a mild, barely inflamed, rash ). There are round or oval red scaly patches, often less red and scaly in the middle or healed in the middle.
12 Μαΐ 2022 · We include our case with those 18 cases to summarize the clinical features and fungal distribution of impetigo-like tinea faciei with the aim of helping diagnosis in future. Epidemiologically, tinea faciei is widespread globally but prefers humid tropical climates.
Clinical signs can include any combination of hair loss, scaling, crusting, erythema, papules, hyperpigmentation, and variable pruritus. Diagnosis can be confirmed by direct examination of hairs or scales from lesions or by skin biopsy.
