13 Οκτ 2008 · Salvage operations are normal and only seam to be frowned on in the case of older and somewhat famous ships. There also seams to be a distinction between commercial use of the salvage and momentos. In this particular case one serious question is was the salvage sanctioned?

17 Απρ 2018 · Fine lot of three relics salvaged from the wreck of the German battleship TIRPITZ, sister to the infamous BISMARCK, sunk by Royal Air Force bombers off Norway in November 1944. Includes: section of rusted metal, approx. 4 1/2" long, taken from a valve handle aboard the wreck.
1 Απρ 2020 · Tirpitz was sunk by bombers of the RAF on Nov. 12, 1944 which dropped "Tallboy" bombs upon the ship. These relics were recovered by Norwegian salvage divers in the 1950's and purchased by our consignor at that time. Evocative mementos from the heaviest battleship ever built by a European navy.

Both articles were originally published as newspaper reports and then reprinted in the USA professional military reference magazine ‘Military Review’.
