10 Φεβ 2019 · I've been working with the TLM103 for some years now, and I'm looking for a new mic that has more body, and easier to control highs. I've done some great vocals with it, so it's not a rant thread! My Pre is a Universal Audio 4-710d which I mostly use on 100% tube.
22 Φεβ 2020 · The 103 is around -32 db. I don't know what other mics you have that have "higher/hotter output". But you could pop in the mv/pa value in this converter and it might help understand the difference.
The TLM 103 is a cardioid microphone with a large diaphragm condenser capsule derived from the classic K67/87 capsule of the legendary Neumann U 87. However, the TLM 103 has a slightly more modern voicing with a wide presence boost for frequencies above 5 kHz.

The microphone sound transducer is directly coupled to a SMD technology transformer-less preamplifier. The microphone body is made of high thickness metal to provide the correct weight and resonance-free performance. The TLM 103 has a very low self noise of 7 dB-A.
