Tooth Anatomy. Crown: The part of the tooth that projects into the mouth above the gum line. Cementum: A layer of connective tissue that binds the roots of the teeth firmly to the gums and jawbone. Cusps: The parts of the occlusal surface that are raised. Dentin: A layer underlying the enamel.
The Anatomy of a Tooth. Your teeth are composed of hard (calcified) and soft (non-calcified) dental tissues. Enamel, dentin and cementum are hard tissues. Pulp, or the center of the tooth that contains nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue—is a soft tissue.
26 Ιουν 2023 · Dentin protects the pulp and has great tensile strength. Both dentin and pulp are derived from the dental papilla (tooth germ). Dentin is produced by odontoblasts as predentin, a mesenchymal product composed of collagen fibers, mainly collagen I-III-IV, and phosphoprotein.
