In this chapter, we introduce the mathematical concept of a topological space based on the topology that is induced on the real plane by a distance function. We also show how simple structures can be used to build complex objects in GIS databases, and how to check the consistency of a two-dimensional topologic representation of spatial features.
16 Απρ 2014 · Using the concept of metrics, metric spaces and hence the topological spaces, the geometry provides the means for the quantitative description of the spatial characteristics of the features associated with objects.
1 Δεκ 2023 · Topology as a spatial property gives value to 3D GIS by maintaining connectivity, adjacency, and containment information. This study attempted to understand how topology is used in 3D GIS based...
This is an introductory textbook on spatial analysis and spatial statistics through GIS. Each chapter presents methods and metrics, explains how to interpret results and provides worked examples. Topics include: Describing and mapping data through exploratory spatial data analysis Analyzing geographic distributions and point patterns
topology in GIS. The main aim of this article is to trigger further discussion, development and identification of additional applications that would make the GIS–Topology bond stronger.
3 ημέρες πριν · Topology expresses the spatial relationships between connecting or adjacent vector features (points, polylines and polygons) in a GIS. Topological or topology-based data are useful for detecting and correcting digitising errors (e.g. two lines in a roads vector layer that do not meet perfectly at an intersection).
26 Μαρ 2004 · Provides GI scientists and geographers with an accessible overview of current surface topology research. Algorithms are presented and explained with practical examples of their usage.
