1 Δεκ 2023 · Topology as a spatial property gives value to 3D GIS by maintaining connectivity, adjacency, and containment information. This study attempted to understand how topology is used in 3D GIS...
In this chapter, we introduce the mathematical concept of a topological space based on the topology that is induced on the real plane by a distance function. We also show how simple structures can be used to build complex objects in GIS databases, and how to check the consistency of a two-dimensional topologic representation of spatial features.
Topology is used most fundamentally to ensure data quality (e.g., no gaps or overlaps between polygons representing land parcels) and allow a GIS to more realistically represent geographic features. Topology allows one to control the geometric relationships between features and maintain their geometric integrity.
1 Ιαν 2017 · Definition. Topological relations between spatial objects have been widely recognized, implemented, and used in GIS. They provide a notion of the general structure and the interactions of spatial objects. Topology avoids dealing with geometry by introducing topological primitives, namely, boundary, interior, and exterior.
The representation of geometrical properties of spatial objects as well as of their structural aspects (topology) is crucial for GIS operations, analyses and visualizations. This chapter introduces the most important geometrical and topological...
This book contains state-of-the-art research studies on the concepts, theory, processes, and real world applications of geographical information systems (GIS) in business. Its chapters are authored by many of the leading experts in applying GIS and geospatial science to business.
16 Απρ 2014 · This article introduces a concept of feature relationship between objects based on topological properties. These relationships are identified through topo-geographic and metric-geographic situations and the corresponding topologies emerged out of it.
