The Wake County Animal Center strives to create a humane community for the pets and people that live here. As the only open admission shelter in the county, we take in all stray pets in Wake County. Together, with community partners, we treat and re-home thousands of homeless animals every year.
If you have found a stray dog or cat and followed the guidelines above you can follow the steps below for a surrender. Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary is a no-kill sanctuary for dogs and cats. We are contacted daily by individuals seeking to surrender their animal or a homeless animal.
The Wake County Animal Center is an open-admission animal shelter operated by Wake County. We receive all stray, abandoned & surrendered pets in Wake County. We work in partnership with fosters, volunteers and local rescues, to treat and rehome thousands of homeless animals every year.
SAFE Haven is appreciative of your concern for the safety and well-being of stray cats. We offer a variety of services to help with strays, from referrals to our low-cost spay/neuter services to possibly placing the cat on our waitlist for participation in our adoption program.
The Wake County Animal Center holds stray animals for three to five business days before they are available for adoption. Please complete the Lost and Found form or call the Town of Cary Animal Services office at (919) 319-4517 and provide a detailed description and the last known location of your animal.
