1 Φεβ 2008 · I only run 93 octane fuel. The first thing I did with this car after I bought it was perform the 60k mile service, including plugs, airfilter, fuel filter, etc. The lean codes showed up a short while later (like a month after I bought the car). Then it started throwing the P0171 and P0174 codes.
20 Φεβ 2015 · It has started running bad and throwing codes. The P0174 and P0171 codes are the only ones left that I can’t fix. The P0174 codes is always primary. I have 2 scanner tools, the Innova 3100 w/ABS and the Creator tool specific to BMW. I have followed the forum trying to correct the problem.
p0171 means system running lean so not enough fuel. could be anything related to fuel. Yep, but also likely air. Before I go tearing into injectors I'm going to look at air.
2 Ιουλ 2022 · Positive fuel trims are common (as in universal) with e46s at around 125-150k. These are called “lean” because they are adding fuel to a mixture that has too little fuel. Over the long term, positive trims can contaminate the cats. This means positive trims above 3%, not just the ones that trigger P0171/P0174 codes.
