14 Νοε 2004 · Step Eleven: Replace seal with new one. Place new rubber seal in grove using some engine oil to hold the seal in place. Step Twelve: Place oil pump cover back in place without moving seal out of its grove. Use new Philips bolts from Toyota to replace the old ones.

This article will show you how to replace the seals rather than replacing the entire pump assembly, which will save you a ton of money.

Thanks to the responses I received it was determined to be from either the oil pump o-ring, shaft seal, or front main seal. I just finished replacing all of these and thought I would share a little of what i found.
12 Αυγ 2015 · Replace all the oil pump bolts to their original position. Replace the idler. Install the new timing belt, be sure to line up the marks correctly, and then replace the belt guide. Replace the crankshaft pulley and make sure to tighten it to specs, which is approximately twice the toque of your wheel's lugs.
It sounds like a scary job, but replacing the oil pump seal on one of these old Toyota engines is pretty straight forward.

12 Ιουν 2017 · Insert a new O-ring onto the cylinder block and add liquid sealant to the oil pump and the engine block. Put the oil pump back on the engine block. Add and tighten the bolts over several passes, keeping the torque even. The 10 mm head should be 69 in-lb. and the 12 mm head should be 14 ft-lb.
